The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard is a Welcoming Congregation!
At a special congregational meeting on Sunday, April 29, 2007 our members voted unanimously to apply to the Unitarian Universalist Association for designation as a Welcoming Congregation. Our vote came at the end of an eight month formal process that included worship services, forums, movie screenings, discussions and dialogue.
The UUA Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Concerns received our application in early May and now recognizes UUCB as an official Welcoming Congregation.
Sadly, homophobia and heterosexism are alive and well throughout both our local community and our nation. UUCB is committed to exploring our own feelings, concerns and ignorance as we work to eliminate oppression. The journey may at times be difficult but it is surely worth the effort.
