UUCB Projects

Locally, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard has had a long history of supporting the Brevard County Foster Parent’s Association through monetary donations and clothing and toy drives.

The church maintains an ongoing collection bin for the Central Brevard Sharing Center. They serve the poor, homeless or otherwise less than fortunate citizens in our community, who have fallen through the safety net of government program. They are a non-denominational agency with volunteers from all segments of the community. They provide assistance through a variety of programs directed at immediate relief for individuals and families in crisis, as well as ongoing support, counseling, education, referral and advocacy.

In September 2005, UUCB joined the Adopt-A-Road program through Keep Brevard Beautiful. Four times a year members of UUCB meet to pick up trash along along Minton Road between Highway 192 and Wingate Blvd.

In addition to our regular projects, UUCB is quick to respond in times of crisis. The church, with the aid of several community partners, shipped over 2,000 pounds of relief supplies to the Bay area of Texas on September 6, 2005 to help stock a series of victim’s shelters outside of Galveston for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In conjunction with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, UUCB distributes Guest At Your Table boxes during the holiday season.

“Through this special tradition, Unitarian Universalist communities celebrate the worth and dignity of all people and learn how to put these values into action. The Guest at Your Table experience of families learning together has built lasting connections to UU values for generations of UU youth.”
