Congregational StructureThe Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard (UUCB) is a congregational church, affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association. The congregation makes all major decisions in a democratic assembly of the voting members. Voting members are those who have signed the membership book and support the church financially. Such decisions may include the calling of a minister, major policy changes, election of officers and trustees and approval of the budget. The operation of the church is led by volunteer activities. We appreciate the effort everyone makes in order to take part in the life of their church, understanding that each individual has special talents and interests to contribute to their spiritual community. The church encourages everyone to take an active part in running its affairs. We make an effort to sponsor any activity in which there is an interest and for which leadership can be found. UUCB is a religious community where initiative, interest and enthusiasm are welcome and rewarded. UUCB depends on free will pledges of its members, sponsors and friends for financial support. Financial needs may also be met through fund raising events and the rental of our facilities when they are not being used by the church membership.
Spiritual Growth for AdultsUUCB sponsors a variety of events designed to enrich the spiritual journey of our members and friends. Included are the Adult Forum, Religious Exploration evening classes, Minister’s Weekend and UU Orientation Program. Our services include the chalice lighting ritual, music, readings and a sermon or speech. We have the pleasure of hearing from a variety of ministers, academics, and lay speakers as well as Rev. Wilson. Each service concludes with an opportunity to engage the speaker in a congregational response. UUCB has a regular schedule of social events, social action projects and other opportunities to interact with fellow religious liberals interested in serving the community in fellowship and fun.
